Who are we? Our store has been at the same location in Garden City South, NY since 1946. Originally the store was run by William and John Tervo. As the years pass so did the Tervo’s. In 1973 the business was purchased from the Tervo estate by the present owner.
The brick and mortar store since 1946 is still operating. A good portion of the business has been geared toward educational institutions. In addition we have always serviced the local customers, and others via our shop and/or Rock and Mineral Shows.
The internet creates a new store front. We welcome you to our store. The website lists only some of the goods we sell, but a start must be made somewhere.
We will be adding to the website to give the customer more to choose from. Our inventory is large and we would like to share it with the customers.

In addition we will add pages with advice on “How to Do It”. Since we have made many mistakes over the years, we have learned some things. If we can help the craftsperson from making the same pitfalls we made than our job will be accomplished.
Years ago many people made their own lapidary equipment, and we still handle many of the different parts used. The basic machinery has not changed in over 50 years, many machines have been refined to work more efficiently but the basic machine is unchanged. As with jewelry tools, many are the same tools used over 2000 years ago! New products might look nicer, but the basic hammers, mandrels, vises and buffs remain the same. Good tools do make the project easier to finish, keeping your tools clean and well maintained are the key to great craftsmen.
